Mikael's Plan for this summer

I cannot believe that the spring semester is almost over; however, I really enjoyed in our composition class, so I want to thank Heather and our all classmates. I hope all classmates do anything well in the future.

This summer, I will visit my family and friends in South Korea because I have not seen them for almost two years. Therefore, I am really exciting to meet them for a couple of reasons. . First, I will go to domestic travel with family. I often talk to my mother by phone, and she really envies her friends who go to travel with their daughter; in addition, my father retired so that he also wants to go to travel with me. Second, I have cute and lovely two nephews, so I want to play with them during I stay in Korea. Also, I must prepare big and great presents for them even though I have already sent gifts to them several times. Lastly, I want to meet and talk with my friends because we miss our school years. I used to hang out and go to travel with friends very often, so we made many good memories. Whenever we meet and talk, we never stop talking and laughing because we know each other well and share many things.

I am writing this blog in a quite delirious state. I am not sure whether I can wait two more weeks until I go to Korea. J I hope you have a great summer and wish you all the best!!

Changing My Physical Appearance

If I could permanently alter one thing about my physical appearance, I would wish I had straight hair. I have thick and curly hair, and I cannot tie my hair back due to my weak scalp. Therefore, when I want to change my hair style, I have to think carefully because each hair style has different disadvantages. 

First hair style is long and straight perm hair. When my hair is long, I usually get a perm to make my hair straight. However, whenever I sleep at night, I have to sleep on my back to keep my hair straight. Also, I need to get a perm periodically because my natural hair is curly, so I have to spend a lot of money to keep the hair style. Long and straight hair looks good, but managing the hair style is not easy. 

Second hair style is long and curly perm hair. I had this hair style only twice in my life because this hair style makes my hair look luxuriant. Even though I choose this hair style only to refresh myself and the hair style is more convenient, I am bored with the hair style soon because I feel my hair is too tangled. 

Last hair style is short and straight perm hair. If I get a cut, I also have to get a straight perm; otherwise, I cannot arrange my hair at all because my hair is thick and curly. Also, I have to go to a hair shop regularly to make my hair look thin. Although I can feel cool with the hair style, I do not want to care my hair too much. 

These hair styles have all disadvantages, so I just choose a hair style depending on my feeling. Therefore, I want to have straight hair to get more convenience and better looking.   

Wishes!!

    If I were granted three wishes, I would wish for having an unchangeable body whatever I eat, the ability to teleport, and infinite creativity. 

    First, I want to have an unchangeable body whatever I eat. This is because I love chocolate and ice cream. Therefore, I do not want to worry about gaining weight whenever I eat chocolate and ice cream. Sometimes, while I eat chocolate and ice cream, I feel guilty. It’s a funny situation that I cannot stop eating those so that I eat those as I feel guilty. Thus, if I would have an unchangeable body, I could enjoy chocolate and ice cream enough without worries.

    Another wish is to have the ability to teleport. To be specific, I love traveling all over the world. If I could have the teleportation ability, I would not need to spend money for transportation, admission fee, and hotel. I could go anywhere at any time I want without any limitation; also, I could go somewhere other people are not allowed such as the top of the Eiffel tower, the top of Mount Everest, and even Mars.

    For third wish, I would have infinite creativity. Someone might wish for becoming rich, but if I would have unlimited creativity, I could invent several great things that people all around the world are surprised. Therefore, I could get fame and fortune at the same time. In addition, I could be satisfied with my ability and career because I am a designer who always needs new ideas. I would never get stressed when I start to work a new design project.  

    Even though I hope all these three wishes come true, if I have a friend like the Genie who traps in a lamp, I am willing to give up one wish to release my friend Genie.  

What Would I Un-invent?

   Nowadays advances in technology have brought people several convenient devices. However, I feel tired of using technological devices because sometimes I overuse them. If I could “un-invent” one in the world, I would choose the computer. I cannot live without the computer thought.

   I use a computer every day and every time. I think the computer is highly addictive to me. One day I vacuumed in my room, and accidentally my cell phone recharger was sucked into the vacuum while I wasn’t paying attention. I feel so angry about my carelessness. Also, I thought I want to press ‘Ctrl + z’ keys to undo my action. It’s a funny idea, but I felt I am addicted to the computer. Frequently, I think that I want to press shortcut keys to my real action. Computers makes human life much more convenient. No one can deny the fact, but sometimes the computer makes me think too simple. This may be because I can easily save, delete, and restore my work on the computer. 

   Also, I have fewer conversation with people in person. When I need to talk to someone, I just send email or text message. However, people could misunderstand my email and text message because they don't know my intention and feeling correctly. Even though I know personally conversation is important and effective to keep relationship, I choose conversation through computer due to its convenience. Unless the computer disappear suddenly, I would not give up this convenience.

   Absolutely, I do not want to un-invent the computer. I cannot live a single day without the computer. I just miss my sensitivity and diligence.

My Dream Job

    When I first heard about this topic, I recalled when I was seven years old. This is because whenever someone asked me about my dream job, I answered all kinds of jobs I know. I was naive and ambitious so that I cannot pick only one job. Now I have one specific job, a designer. However, if I could choose a dream job, I would want to be a musician.

    I love listening and composing music, playing instruments, and dancing with music. Since I was twelve years old, I always listened to music and taught myself composition. Self-study was difficult, but I was happy due to my enthusiasm of music. Also, I can play piano, drum, and a variety of wind instruments such as flute and piccolo. I have collected great music albums I think. These are my treasure. Therefore, if I could be a musician, I would be really happy because I can do everything related music as my job.

    If my dream comes true, I want to meet Jay-z, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Tedy Riley, Andrew Lloyd Webber and various musicians. I will discuss with them about music, compose music for famous singers and sell my music at a high price. Finally, I will be a world famous musician and win a prize for the best composer Grammy. That’s very exciting thing to think about.

Who is Mikael? :)

   My name is Mikael and I am from South Korea. I had lived in Seoul until I came to the United States. Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is a bustling place; however, it is a fascinating city. I moved to the United States in 2009 to develop my design knowledge and ability. California is a great place to live someone who loves clean, natural and nice weather. Since I came to California, I have enjoyed camping and visiting other cities. Lake Tahoe, Big bear and Silver Lake are my favorite camping places.


   There are four people in my family; my father, mother, elder sister, and me. My sister, who is an anesthesiology doctor, is four years older than me. She is married and has two boys. First nephew, who is seven years, has beautiful eyes and great brains. Also, second nephew, who is three years old, is full of charms. My nephews are lovely and cute so that I often buy their gifts and talk them on the phone. Whenever talking over the phone, they say that “Aunt, please buy new toys and I love you!” Even though I spend a lot on their present, I cannot stop buying it.


   I am a graphic designer, and I design product, package, corporate identity, advertisement and website. I have worked for Disney, Samsung, Guess and so on. I love my career; therefore, I am proud of myself. My life goal is to become one of the greatest designers in the world. Design is not easy because continuously  trend is changing and people want different and new design. I believe that designers need to study continually and have to train how they can anticipate future trend.


  I love jazz dance, watching movies and going to the gym. I prefer outdoor activities to indoor ones. Outdoor activities are helpful to reduce stress, improve body condition and make friends. If I have a chance, I want to challenge more exciting sports such as; bungee jumping, sky diving or skin scuba diving.
